This article states the Features of Centerless External Grinding of Bearing Parts.

Compared with centering grinding, centerless grinding has the following characteristics:

1.     The workpiece center is not fixed. The workpiece is "freely" placed in the positioning fixture. During the grinding process, the position of the workpiece center is not fixed in the radial plane as the workpiece rotates.

2.     Self-positioning. The grinding surface of the workpiece is the positioning base surface. Therefore, the original error of the workpiece grinding surface and the error after grinding will be reflected as positioning error, which will affect the shape and size of the grinding part of the workpiece, and then be reflected as processing error.

3.     The workpiece movement is controlled in a special way. The movement of the workpiece is controlled by the grinding wheel, guide wheel and support plate, with the guide wheel being the main control. The stability of workpiece movement depends not only on the machine tool motion transmission chain, but also on the actual conditions of the workpiece, guide wheel, and pallet (such as the shape and weight of the workpiece, the material and surface condition of the guide wheel and pallet, and the machine tool layout), as well as the grinding amount and the properties of the grinding wheel used.

4.     It is easy to automate the production process and the productivity is very high.
